Large format tiles offer a vast range of benefits when applied to both private, commercial and public spaces. Be it stunning interiors or striking façades, Porcelanosa offer a range of luxurious and large tiling solutions, so why is bigger better?
Creative Continuity. Larger tiles allow you to use fewer, which translates into a greater level of uniformity. The reduction of the grouping of the pieces provokes a greater visual continuity that only large-format porcelain sheets can offer. For an even greater sense of continuity, Porcelanosa recommends using grouting of a similar colour tone to the tiles, this will create a visual delight that will stand the test of time.
Sublime Spaciousness. The use of colour and mirrors in an interior space has been a way to bring a greater sense of size to a room for eons. H
ave you ever considered the impact the size of specified tiles can have? The visual impact large format tiles have on a room is tenfold, extending the visual symmetry and enhancing the sense of grandeur.
Unique Uses. Due to its size, consistency and high technical performance, it is possible to use large format tiling for the design of bathrooms, kitchens, countertops, and worktables, among many other ideas. Large-format tiles are also more hygienic. With less together, there are fewer areas in which to store the dirt. Making them ideal to use in areas of high foot traffic and areas where food is prepared.
Fantastic Façades. Not only does large format tiling offer designers creative options internally, thanks to their strength, durability, and stunning finish, large format tiles can be used to create breath-taking external façades.
Speedy Set Up. Thanks to the fact that ‘less is more’, installation time is greatly reduced. When the porcelain tile is larger, it requires a smaller number of sheets, which in turn facilitates its assembly and minimises the time dedicated to it. Thanks to innovative solutions from Porcelanosa, installation can be speedy and easy.
With all these reasons to go big, Porcelanosa is delighted to introduce two product lines for the customer who is considering large format tiling.
Airslate: Luxurious large format stone tiles
Nature’s elements can give us unique pieces. L’Antic Colonial, a Porcelanosa Group company, pays homage to natural stone by creating a selection of flexible and adaptable products for any type of wall coverings with the Airslate collection.
In Airslate, natural stone is the undisputed star. Natural stone brings with it a host of benefits when used in the home or exterior of your property. It is hard-wearing, easy to maintain, keeps your property cool yet conducts heat well for underfloor heating and, most of all, is a timeless material full of character and style that will look chic for many years to come.
The Airslate collection comprises a series of technical peculiarities which make it one of the most versatile materials on the market. It is natural slate made into fine tiles or flagstones by L’Antic Colonial and made up of four different layers, one of which is covered in fibreglass, giving it its final structure and strengthening the product. Thanks to the combination of slate and fibreglass, L’Antic Colonial has managed to create an innovative and exclusive collection in a flexible format.
With its elasticity and adaptability, the Airslate series can be fitted to any type of space and surface. Its capacity to bend to a radius of up to 350mm means that the natural stone sheets can be fitted to different surfaces, without it mattering whether they are curved, columns or any type of irregularity that changes the area to be lined, as happens on frontings. Additionally its minimal thickness, of between 2mm and 4mm, makes it very light and easy to handle when covering areas.
Airslate stone is available in two different sizes: 1,200 by 2,400mm and 600 by 1,200mm. There are eight different models in which the slate is presented in different tones and textures, to provide a harmonious and natural environment. With Bombay, Delhi, Kathmandu, Forest, Kashmir, Metal, Graphite, and Patna, L’Antic Colonial has created a whole series representing an infinite number of ways to bring the purity of a material like natural stone to your home in a pliable and versatile manner. Airslate is a unique and elegant material adaptable to all areas of interior design.
Xtone: Sophisticated Surfaces
Porcelanosa’s XTone large format porcelain slabs can be used to create sophisticated, elegant, and functional designs for countertops and tables. The new high performance material is made up of sintered porcelain with pure minerals that are compacted and created with the most advanced technological development; all the while featuring a stunning, avant-garde design.
XTone provides a multitude of benefits, and performs better than quartz, marble, granite, and other common solid surfaces. It is an easily maintainable material that is highly resistant to stains, chemicals, heat and burns, thermal shock, scratching, water, and UV rays.
Following an aspiration of developing new materials, Urbatek, one of the eight brands within Porcelanosa’s umbrella, launched XLight, an extra-large format and minimum thickness porcelain tile. XLight first ranges came in 3.5mm thickness, 3,000 by 1,000mm large format. At just 8kg per sq. metre, it offered a lighter weight and less absorption than a traditional tile. Suitable for wall cladding, it is a perfect choice for renovation projects due to its thinness.
Over the years, large format tiles have become very popular within the A+D community. Technology has improved, and customers and professionals are demanding high quality products to fulfil their daily needs.
XTone was born to meet this growing demand and it is the result of an exhaustive research and development process to obtain a sintered mineral compact from the purest natural materials with the most advanced technology and avant-garde design.
The purpose of XTone is to be durable, elegant and functional. Porcelanosa Group has tested XTone to extreme temperature changes, meaning that it is suitable for use inside and out. It is also extremely resistant to scratching with cutting utensils when taking even the minimum of precautions, as well as being stain- and chemical-resistant, making XTone the ideal material for work surfaces in the kitchen and throughout the home.
XTone stands out for being extremely simple to clean thanks to its very low water absorption. Even the most aggressive cleaning products, such as those used to clean ovens, do not affect the surface of XTone.
XTone is the latest addition to Porcelanosa Group’s portfolio. Its large format sheet, 12mm thick, widens the scope of applications in all types of surfaces such as countertops, furniture, and façade cladding.
