For 40 years Ceramica Impex has been importing ceramic, porcelain, glass and natural stone tiles and mosaics to the UK market. With a long association with the Kale Group, one of Europe’s largest ceramics manufacturers, Ceramica Impex is one of the country’s leading tile specialists, currently supplying the UK’s largest tile retailer, one of the UK’s largest DIY chains, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, and architectural contract suppliers nationwide.
Ceramica Impex’s diverse, exclusive and up-to-date range of products, extensively from Turkish and Italian factories, provides ‘good, better, best’ price points. This, alongside the company’s renowned market expertise and sourcing ability, means that Ceramica Impex offers a complete tiling solution for any retailer or project. A core selection of the tile portfolio can be viewed in the showroom at the wholesale distribution centre at Victoria Industrial Park, Victoria Road, Leeds.
As Turkey’s first ceramic tile producer, the Kale Group established Çanakkale Seramik – Turkey’s first ceramic tile factory – in 1957 and founded Kalebodur – Turkey’s first floor tile producer – in 1972. While Çanakkale Seramik became synonymous with quality in wall tiles, Kalebodur gave the product its name. Kaleseramik continues its production under the Çanakkale Seramik and Kalebodur brands. Despite its growth, the Kale Group is still family owned and operated. With a vast array of tiles across different designs, specifications and formats, the Kale Group continues to refresh and update its extensive portfolio with key product launches each year, all of which are available exclusively in the UK through Ceramica Impex.
In 2014 Ceramica Impex relocated its head office and warehousing to Leeds to meet customer demand and to enable the company to offer a broader range of services and products. Ceramica Impex is now able to offer pick and pack on special items, while holding more extensive stocks of key lines to meet ever-increasing customer needs.
The Leeds warehouse spans 40,000 sq ft, with additional outdoor covered storage. It features dedicated loading and unloading bays, and multiple lorry ports. Over half of the warehousing space has state-of-the-art, computerised bay racking, enabling Ceramica Impex to offer pick and pack, half pallets and room lots, while a large bulk area allows the company to hold greater volumes of the fast sellers.
Since 2015 Ceramica Impex has also distributed products from Kale Group’s Italian factories. This includes a wide range of indoor/outdoor tiles aimed at the project market. These Italian factories have developed some of Ceramica Impex’s bestselling ranges in recent years. Covering key design styles and specifications, the portfolio includes tile collections across numerous size formats and colours to match the requirements of many design briefs.
In recent years Ceramica Impex has developed and grown by being able to offer a wider choice of ways to purchase ceramic tiles, including full containers, pallets, part pallets, and pick and pack. Building on this success further, Ceramica Impex has both evolved and diversified and is now associated with numerous high-profile specification tiling projects.
A key strength of Ceramica Impex is that it is in a strong financial position, which enables good stocks to be held in Leeds. This, in turn, means that customers do not have to hold stock but can draw down from Ceramica Impex as and when required. This has proved very popular on the project side, as well as making the whole retail process more cost effective.
All areas of the country – England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland – are equally important to Ceramica Impex’s development as reflected in the portfolio of projects recently completed across the UK and Ireland featuring tiling products supplied by Ceramica Impex.
